Presenting the Keynote address, the Chief Director of the ORCC, Rev. Harry Owoo, who stood in for the Hon. Regional Minister, Oti Region laid emphasis on the importance of Standards and the need to apply them to improve the quality of life of people in the Oti Region and Ghana as a whole. In line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17 he touched on the need for the collective effort of all relevant agencies and Departments to achieve the SDGs.
The Oti Regional Manager of the GSA, Mad. Stephanie Famiyeh-Addo in her presentation said the theme of the day offers an opportunity for the various agencies and departments present to dialogue and brainstorm on ways of collaborating to solve problems and contribute to the effective implementation of the SDGs that fall within their purview, even beyond the workshop. She added that some problems are multifaceted in nature and they can only be resolved with multifaceted solutions. She said the absence of road network in many townships and the numerous homes without sanitary facilities, are just a few of the problems of the Oti Region, and that relevant agencies and departments could collaborate to design schemes to address these problems.
In other GSA presentations of the day, Miss. Esther Boateng and Mr. William Ekow Donkoh, both staff of the GSA took participants through lists of available Standards that are applicable to their scope of work, the certification schemes currently operated by the GSA and a myriad of other services provided by the GSA.
