DEPARTMENT OF GENDER LEADS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AND SCREENING EXERCISE IN OTI REGION

A total of 64 participants, made up of 46 females and 18 males, attended the programme. Participants were educated on the risk factors, signs and symptoms of breast cancer and how to perform breast self-examination. They also had the chance to ask questions and clear up myths and misconceptions about the disease. Free clinical breast screening was provided to the women and girls in a private and confidential setting.

The Department of Gender thanks the Ghana Health Service, the Oti Regional Co-ordinating Council and all participating institutions for their support and cooperation. We also commend the men who joined us, as protecting women’s health is a shared responsibility. Remember, early detection saves lives. Check your breasts regularly and visit the nearest health facility if you notice any change.
