NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY SENSITIZATION FORUM ON WORLD CONSUMER RIGHT DAY.


As part of the 2025 World Consumer Rights Day celebrations, the National Communication Authority organized a sensitization forum for the staff of the  Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) on Monday March 17, 2025 at the Oti regional Coordinating Council conference hall to educate consumers on telecommunications infrastructure, specifically masts and towers.

NKWANTA- OTI DAMANKO ROAD


After successful negotiations by the government, China Jiangi Corporation has returned to site to complete the 50.3km Nkwanta-Oti Damanko stretch of the Eastern Corridor Road within 12 months.

The project, which was initially awarded in 2011 to China Jiangi Corporation had stalled due to non-payment to the contractor.

OTI MINISTER ENGAGES FORMER MMDCES FOR DEVELOPMENT


In a bid to accelerate development in the Oti Region, Regional Minister John Kwadwo Gyapong has initiated a strategic collaboration with former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The initiative aims to foster unity and a shared vision in addressing the region’s developmental challenges.

OTI REGIONAL MINISTER CONFERS ON CHIEFS AND PEOPLE OF NKWANTA NORTH


The Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, on Tuesday February 11, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the chief, elders and opinion leaders of Kpassa traditional area in the Nkwanta North District of the region.

This was the first official movement of the minister after he resumed duty on Monday as the Minister in the region. Addressing the Chiefs and people gathered, Mr Gyapong underscored the need for peaceful coexistence with each other and pledged to ensure the people of Kpassa receive its share of the national cake.

SPECIAL REPORT ON THE FIRST MANAGEMENT MEETING HELD WITH THE NEW REGIONAL MINISTER.


The heads of departments and units of Oti Regional Coordinating Council held the first management meeting to welcome the new Oti Regional Minister Honorable John Kojo Gyapong and also briefed the new minister their job schedules today February 11, 2025 at the regional minister office. This was also to ensure familiarization among heads of departments and the new minister.

Speaking at the management meeting, the Regional minister underscored the need for comprehensive reports from the departmental heads at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC).

According to the Minister, the development of Oti Region is his outfit and government’s highest interest and such must be extended to others.

SPECIAL REPORT ON THE STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON PASSPORT ISSUANCE TO YOUNG GIRLS TRAVELLING TO THE GULF FROM OTI REGION.


The Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) in collaboration with the Passport Office Ho organized a one-day stakeholder engagement on Saturday February 1, 2025 at the Oti regional Coordinating Coucil conference hall to deliberate on negative issues regarding the issuance of passport to the young ladies of Oti travelling to the Gulf countries. These young ladies are promised of good jobs by their undercover agents but later becomes house helps and subjected to inhumane treatments leading to their deaths after their arrival in the Gulf.

SPECIAL REPORT ON THE LAST OTI REGIONAL COORDINATING COUNCIL MEETING.


The Oti Regional Coordinating Council organized its last regional coordinating council meeting on December 19, 2024 at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council. The is always organized at least twice every year to create an opportunity for the Regional Coordinating Council Members comprising all the Municipal and District Chief Executives MDCEs, presiding members, regional minister and representatives from regional house of chiefs to seek clarification from the heads of departments on government programmes, policies and projects they do not understand.

ORCC, MDAS SIGNS 2025 PERFORMANCE CONTRACT


The Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) and the Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) Tuesday November 19th 2024 signed the 2025 performance contract as mandated by the Office of the Head of Local Government Service (OHLGS).

During the ceremony, the district Coordinating Directors and the MDAs signed for their respective assemblies whilst the Regional Minister and the Chief Director of the region also signed on behalf of the Council.

ORCC MOVES TO SANCTION NON-PERFORMING MDAS, STAFF


The Management of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC), on Friday November 15th 2024 notified the Municipal District Assemblies (MDAs) and staff of the council’s intention to sanctions non-performing staff in compliance the resolution of council directives.

Sanctions to be applied to the affected staff include but not limited to query, warning letters, signing of Bonds, posting to work under a Senior Officer(s) and Coaching, and mentoring.

Others are delayed promotion, demotion as well as withdrawal from Headship position or inability to apply for high position.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD IN THE KRACHI EAST MUNICIPALITY.


On 30th October 2024, the Department of Gender, under the auspices of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council and with funding support from UNFPA, commemorated the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child in the Krachi East Municipality.

A SPECIAL REPORT ON REGIONAL CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON THE REVIEW OF ZONING GUIDELINES AND PLANNING STANDARDS


 The Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) in collaboration with the Germany Development Cooperation (GIZ) under the Participatory, Accountability and Integrity for a Resilient Democracy (PAIRED) programme on Monday 21st October 2024 held a regional Consultative meeting on the review of zoning guidelines and planning standards.

During the regional consultative meeting, the Oti Regional Minister speaking through the ORCC Chief Director, Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, described land as a valuable resource for economic development.

“It is considered a factor of production similar to labour as one of the crucial elements in creating goods and services. Land resources, specifically, are raw materials in the production process, such as trees, oil, and metals among others,” he said.

A SPECIAL REPORT ON 2024 COMPOSITE BUDGET HEARING


A budget committee of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) has organised a three-day hearing of the 2024 composite budget for the Municipal and district assemblies across the region starting from October 16th to 18th 2024.

The Regional Minister addressing the committee through the Regional Coordinating Director, Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo (Chief Director), said the move was a laid down step for preparation of the annual budget for the assemblies, regional as well as the national budget.

ADOLESCENT MENTORSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT CAMP PROGRAMME IN DAMBAI


On Thursday, 26th and Friday, 27th September 2024, the Department under the auspices of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council with funding support from UNFPA organised a 2- day Adolescent Mentorship and Empowerment Camp programme for 40 adolescent girls at Bosatsu Hotel in Dambai.

The participants were selected from 3 districts in the Oti Region, namely; Nkwanta North, Nkwanta South and Krachi East Municipal.

SPECIAL REPORT ON THE OTI REGIONAL LAUNCH OF DISTRICT ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME (DRIP)


The Oti Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the J A Plant Pool handed over road equipment to the various districts in Oti Region on Wednesday 28 August, 2024 at Lapaz park Dambai.

The Oti Regional Minister, Daniel Machator on Wednesday announced that about 270 direct jobs would be created in the region through the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP), an initiative of the government through the J A Pool, a subsidiary of Jospong Group of Companies.
