YABRAM COMMUNITY DAY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT OTI REGIONAL COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR EDUCATIONAL TOUR

He further took the students through the structure of Ghana’s Local Government System, explaining the country’s decentralization framework, the mandate of the Regional Coordinating Council, and the critical role it plays in coordinating, monitoring and supporting the activities of the Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) within the Oti Region.

As part of the interactive learning session, Heads of Departments and Units delivered presentations on their respective functions and responsibilities within the Council. These included the Human Resource Department, Budget Unit, Department of Works, Internal Audit Unit, Procurement Unit, Regional Economic Planning Unit, Information Services Department, Regional Peace Council, Records Management Unit, Department of Gender, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA), Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, and the Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit.

The presentations provided students with valuable insights into how the various departments collaborate to implement government policies, coordinate development programmes, promote good governance, and improve service delivery across the region.

The educational tour concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which the students interacted with the management team, seeking clarification on various aspects of local governance and public administration. The management provided detailed responses, enriching the students’ understanding of the practical operations of the Regional Coordinating Council.

The visit was both informative and inspiring, offering the students a unique opportunity to experience governance beyond the classroom while encouraging greater appreciation for public service and the role of local government in national development.
